Catherine’s Survival Page

Born August 10, 2002

Latest Update (11/19/2002)

CATHERINE IS HOME!!!  She came home Wednesday November 13.  The first week has been hectic and extremely stressful.  She was sleeping a lot and NOT eating enough to gain weight.  But I am glad to say that we now are doing much better.  Catherine is eating better and we are getting some sleep!

Introduction

Welcome to Catherine’s Web Page.  This web page is dedicated to the survival of Catherine and to all those experiencing the birth of a preterm baby.  The contents of this Web Page will change as Catherine progresses.  Please check back occasionally to witness Catherine’s progress.

Summary

Christine was diagnosed with very little amniotic fluid at 18 weeks.  The doctor’s could not confirm that she had ruptured so she was diagnosed with a damaged placenta causing the oligohydramnios (low fluid).  At 25 weeks, some dark red bleeding began so we went to the hospital were she would stay on complete bed rest for the next two weeks.  At 27 weeks, Christine began to dilate and so delivery was inevitable.  On August 10, 2002 Catherine Faith Bridgedale was born at 2 pounds, 2 ounces.  With underdeveloped lungs, her struggle begins in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Special Thanks
